Rare. Centennial Edition. A framed portion of the evening news which measures 6 1/2" x 9 3/4". The light brown wooden frame measures 10 1/2" x 13 3/4". Articles by Alfred Doten. Eight different sections: Centennial Hymn, Song of 1876, A Nation Celebrating, Let Us Rejoice Heartily, The German American, Our Centennial, Our Patriotic Decorations, and Second-Hand Flags. "The Fourth of July which we celebrate to-day is justly looked upon as an event in our history as people. Possibly not one person who now takes part in the ceremonies will live to hail another Centennial of the nation`s birth. . ." as written under the "Let us Rejoice Heartily" section. This newspaper selection demonstrates the importance of the Fourth of July to this city, and their many celebrations.
