This group consists of two distinctly different maps of the Gold Mountain Mining District. One group was made by Almsted and Almsted, U. S. mineral surveyors. Undated. The other group was made by E. S. Gilles County surveyor. Undated; 1 inch equals 800 feet. The Almsted pieces include two original pen and ink on onion skin paper and one blueprint copy. The Gilles map includes two blueprint copies and the original from which a blueprint was made. The Gilles maps differ from the Almstead maps in that each of the claim groups shown on the map have been associated with public mining companies. As such this information adds to the wealth of Nevada mining history because companies such as the Nevada Goldfield Mining Company were located here at Gold Mountain. Some of the mining companies listed on Gilles Map are the Randolph Gold Mining Company, Nevada Sunshine Gold Mining Company, Nevada Goldfield Mining Company, Francis Gold Mining Company, Gold Bridge Mining Company, Rattlesnake Mining Company, Gold Crest Mining Company Tolkop Mining Company, etc. The maps shows the roads in and out of the camp with one direction off to Bonnie Claire and the other off the Hornsilver. The edges are little bit ratty on some, while others are okay. This is an extremely historic group from the Gold Mountain Mining District probably made for mining and prospecting c1910.
