This specimen is a 725-gram slab from a high-grade portion of the Cannon Mine showing the characteristic banded structure with visible gold and electrum (a grayish silver-gold alloy) of the ore. It is approx. 7 x 3 x 1.25 inches. This piece is labeled by the collector as from the X-280 Stope, 700 Level. The lot comes with a brass belt buckle commemorating operations at the Cannon Mine from 1985-1994. It shows the head frame set against a bas-relief background of the local mountains. It is number 83 of 250. Made in 1994 by Siskiyou Buckle Co, Ashland, Oregon. See other lots of Cannon Mine slabs for a description of the mine.
