From the Prag collection, "Mining Gold Run Cal." Handwritten note on reverse reads "This is one of the oldest camps in the state." One of the most productive mines in Placer County, Gold Run had an estimated total yield of over $15 million. Originally named Mountain Springs by O.W. Hollenbeck in 1854, the name was changed in 1863 due to the riches discovered in the area (sierranevadageotourism).
