Pass for the Anniversary Excursion on board the Steamer Contra Costa for Howard Engine Company No. 3. Tuesday, June 15th, 1858. Printed on very thick green cardstock. Reverse has initials DNC, as well as residue from once being glued in an album. 2.25" x 3.5" Howard Engine Co. No. 3 was organized June 14, 1850 and located on Merchant Street. A listing of its 1855 members include D. Canary, possibly our fireman with DC initials? Their equipment included Hunneman No.379 (in 1851) that was destroyed in the 1906 Earthquake & Fire.
