From Lucian Curtis and written to General Vallejo in care of Miss Hackett & Judah at the Burgoyne Building in San Francisco. He was [obviously] to move into the General's Rancho Petaluma Adobe, but was denied by the current owners. Arrived with furniture. Had to employ Colonel Huil's team to move it to the house [probably from a steamer that arrived up river from San Francisco]. "The German declined letting me take possession or receive my things.". I told them the articles belonged to you and they agreed to hold them in storage until you came. It turns out that Lucian and his 'boy' must remain at Vallejo's expense at with Colonel Huil. Huil would hand deliver the letter to the General. Curtis would eventually live in the villa. He was born in Connecticut and was a copper plate engraver and farmer. He did live one time at the famous Rancho Petaluma Adobe. Vallejo transferred 44,000 acres to the Rancho at one time. Small holes at some folds. City: Rancho Petaluma Adobe State: California Date: December 29, 1853 hwac# 33392
