Poverty Hill is in Sierra County, though the certificate says Plumas County. Poverty Hill was along the extreme western border of Sierra County. It was about 12 west of Downieville. It was on a ridge between Canyon Creek on the north and the North Fork of the Yuba River on the south. Worked extensively from the 1850's to the 1890's.
