Volume I of the Western Land and Waters Series. Limited to 1265 copies printed. This pioneering work highlights the long and bitter opposition of residents and farmers of the Sacramento Valley to the damage caused by flood-carried hydraulic mining debris. The severe erosion and consequent flooding of the valley caused by hydraulic mining are examined both historically and environmentally.
