Intact and fully functional pair of gold wire-rim spectacles recovered from the S.S. Central America shipwreck. They are 4-1/8 inches wide between the working hinges, with adjustable bows from 4 to 5-3/4 inches. Glass lenses are intact and unscratched with a slight magnification power. These were apparently sized for a person with a small head. 13.6 grams. Electronically tested as 18K gold.

Recovered from the port side debris field in 2014, Coin Pile #6. Recovery seen clearly in a series of in situ images.

Provenance: SS Central America Collection
