Lot of 9 incl. 3 Wingfield autographed pieces. The Goldfield Cons. Mines Co. was organized in 1906 with the plan of taking over the Goldfield Mohawk, Jumbo, Rep Top, and Laguna mining companies. Nixon was elected president and Wingfield vice-president.1) Four different style stock certificates for the company. Three are signed by George Wingfield! Wingfield was one of the state’s most powerful economic and political figures from 1909-1932. In Goldfield, Wingfield and George Nixon established the Goldfield Consolidating Mining Company, which ultimately produced more than $50 million worth of ore. In 1906, the partners established the Nixon National Bank of Reno (later renamed the Reno National Bank), and in 1908, Wingfield moved to Reno, where he became active in politics, banking, ranching, and hotel-keeping. He was influential in developing Reno’s gambling and divorce-related tourism industries. [Renohistorical.org] All issued in 1907, stamp and punch cancelled. Two have an underground mining vignette.
