While prospecting in Goler Wash in the El Paso Mountains, the "Nugget Ace" found a remnant ancient river channel about 500 feet in elevation above the active Goler Wash from which he mined four large nuggets, two of which are here, the other two in another lot. This pair weighs 40.1 grams, and are 3/4 to 1" long. Little detailed geology has been published on the Goler Wash area. The discovery was made by John Goler (Goller) and Wolfgang Tauber, who were 1849 Death Valley Argonauts. (See Gudde, California Gold Camps, p137). Goler Wash is south of Manley Peak and south of Ballarat off the south end of the Panamint range, in - exactly - the middle of nowhere. The nearest "mine" was the Keystone.
