One of Comstock's most sought after checks. Includes Philip Deidesheimer's signature as superintendent of the Gould & Curry. Cut cancel and light soiling on right edge. Deidesheimer was a brilliant German engineer who solved a problem plaguing the Comstock mines. Larger cavities were not stable due to the soft nature of the Comstock rock. In 1860, while working for the Ophir mine, Deidesheimer created the square-set timber system which essentially made the timbers interlock into cubes. The design was so ingenious it was adopted elsewhere in the mining world. Deidesheimer did not patent his invention! His signature is very rare as he only signed as superintendent for one day! Famous Gould and Curry green on white check, Bank of California, green imprinted Nevada revenue stamp, orange imprinted US revenue stamp (good for checks only), cut cancelled.
