Lot of 10 checks issued in 1866 and signed by Louis Janin as superintendent. All have orange NV adhesive and US IR revenue stamps. Great resale lot! Louis Janin (1837–1914), a Yale-trained mining engineer educated at the Freiberg Mining Academy, gained prominence on the Comstock Lode in the early 1860s by recovering silver from discarded tailings and improving amalgamation techniques at the Gould & Curry's Mexican Mill. He later served as a global consulting engineer and expert witness in major mining litigation, advised the Japanese government in 1873, and mentored future industry leaders such as Herbert Hoover and John Hays Hammond.
