Territorial. One-of-a-kind historical certificate w/ the signatures of two governors! Incorporated Jan. 1863. Location: Star District, Humboldt County, Nevada Territory. Certificate #205. I/U, Issued to J.A. Byers for twenty shares on February 23, 1863. Signed by John Bigler (president) . Reverse signed by Byers and Wm. Bigler. William Bigler was John's brother and served as Pennsylvania governor from 1852-1855. Vignette of John Bigler on left. Printed by Lithography of Geo. H. Baker, S.F. John Bigler was the third governor of California and the first to serve two consecutive terms. During his time in office (1852-1856), he moved the capitol to Sacramento and a branch mint was opened in San Francisco. In 1854, he was so popular that a lake was named after him. We now know this lake by another name: Lake Tahoe. Certificate is very clean.
