We believe these items came from an Estate Sale from the famous Hauser Mansion in Helena, Montana, possibly after the purchase of the mansion by Gov. Greg Gianforte and First Lady Susan Gianforte in Janu1ary 2024. The Hauser Mansion on Madison Ave is on the National Register of Historic Places. Territorial Governor Hauser built the mansion in 1885, which stayed in his family through 1914, but the property has had several other notable owners, including the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena for use as a Bishop's residence, the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas, a Catholic organization active in healthcare in the State, and former Montana Governor, Tim Babcock, a close friend of former President Richard M. Nixon, who had a phone line to the White House installed at the mansion. The Hauser Mansion items Include: 1) Ex-Governor Tim Babcock's Republican National Convention San Francisco 1964 circular paperweight with elephant in center made by Shreve & Company, San Francisco. (stamped on bottom) 3" diameter, very heavy. 2) Babcock's Metal Republican National Convention 2000 Delegate badge ribbon hangar in the shape of an elephant with 3 gold stars. 2 x 2 inches. Thin white metal - tin? This piece is an unknown delegate souvenir from the 2000 Convention; we were unable to find another anywhere online. 3) Montana A. A. U. 1963 David G. Rivenes Award silver plated bowl w/blue Paul Revere sticker on the bottom (8" diameter at top, 4.5" from base to top, mounted on plastic base w/silver plaque and tiny AAU USA badge at center of plaque. This award is presented annually to the individual who is being recognized for dedicated service to the National AAU Taekwondo movement. It is not known to us who this award belonged to. Timothy Babcock was the Governor of Montana from 1962-1969, as incumbent in 62 when Nutter died and winning by election in 64. After serving as Governor, Babcock continued to work in politics through the Nixon years and in business as the V.P. of Occidental Petroleum, when the Nixon Watergate scandal heated up around 1972, which led to Babcock and his employer, Armond Hammer pleading guilty to illegal contributions to the Watergate Fund. After news of the scandal died down Babcock continued to actively represent his home state of Montana at every GOP National Convention until 2012. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention eleven times and served on the National Republican Committee in 1997 and 2000. He purchased the Hauser Mansion in Helena in 69 and may have resided there until his death in 2015. [ Montana
