This is a GAR medal commemorating the 44th International Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic in Atlantic City, N.J. September 19-24, 1910. The ribbon is in fair condition while the medal is intact as an enameled lighthouse on one medal and a hanger with the likness of Kearny. The last member of the GAR, Albert Woolson, a Drummer Boy during the war, died in 1956. Six US Presidents were members that lobbied for pensions for veterans, created Memorial Day, and lobbied for the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited in school classrooms.
