This is a Grand Army of the Republic medal souvenir of the 21 st National Encampment of 1887. The medal is struck with the likeness of John A. Logan- patriot and statesman. John A. Logan College in Illinois is named after this statesman, soldier, and volunteer. Bronze at about 1 1/2 in. in diameter with a bronze T-bar for shirt collar mounting. The back side of the medal is stamped "United we stand-Divided we fall"with 23 stars present representing the states of 1820. Light patination in very good condition. Providence is the J.M. Davis Arms Museum.
