Grass Valley Morning Union, Bound Volumes, 1907-1920, Incomplete. 17.5 x 22.5 bound volumes of this Grass Valley Newspaper at a time when gold mining had begun a tertiary explosion from the invention of the floatation process which separated gold and other metals from fresh unoxidized sulphides. For those that may not know, Grass Valley was the very rich center of the "northern" gold mines, though today, not to be confused with the Shasta-Trinity region. Grass Valley was the home to the famous Empire Mine, one of the largest single underground gold mines in America, second perhaps only to the great Homestake mine in South Dakota. The papers also cover the emergence of the fist world war and the end of that war in 1918. Ten bound volumes: Oct-Dec 1907; Apr-Jun 1910; Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, and Oct-Dec 1913; Jan-Mar 1914; Apr-Jun 1916; Oct-Dec 1918; Jan-Jun, Jul-Dec 1920.
