The Gray's Peak Route- The Argentine Central Railway Co. dated 1909. Nice pictorial front of a mountain and numbered A242. Issued in 1909 to Mr. CN Reynolds & wife on the T F A AT & S F Railways. Signed by Edward J. Wilcox as president. Countersigned by F.W. Webber. A nice pass.
This railroad operated 1906-1918 and ran from Silver Plume to Waldorf (now a ghost town) and then to the summit of Mt. McClellan. While Wilcox wanted it to serve his silver mining operations, he also realized the tourism opportunities for those wanting to reach the summit of Mt. McClellan (and nearby Gray's Peak). Gray's Peak is the 10th highest mountain in the Rocky Mountains. If interested in an illustration of this Colorado scenery, we have a lot of Spectacular Colorado Scenery Illustrations (grouping of 4), one of which includes illustrations of Gray's Peak, and it is a part of Nelson A. "Buz" Rieger's exhibition "Rush to the Rockies."
Please see photos of front and back of pass to see good condition!
