Location: Star District, Storey County (Lyon crossed out), N.T. (printed below logo). Incorporated April 3rd, 1863. No. 54, issued for 15 shares to E. Ezekiel on April 22nd, 1863. Signed by president A. Clock and secretary L. F. Yates. Not cancelled. Vignette by Loomis of ore cart being loaded onto lift underground. Also small vignette of dog head at the bottom. Printed by Towne & Bacon Printers, San Francisco. 25 cent United States Revenue stamp attached on the left side. Deep folds, rough edges, and areas of foxing/staining. Listed in the 1864 Collins directory, location Silver Star District, with A.C. Knox as secretary and office at 13 Taylor's Building in Virginia City. Yates is listed as the secretary for the Harrison Mining Company. Clock is listed as in the milk business in the 1862 and 1863 Nevada territorial directories. The Silver Star District was 1 1/4 miles east of Virginia City and Gold Hill and lies parallel to the Comstock Lode. It was later renamed the Brunswick District after the Brunswick Lode and then renamed again as the Comstock District. A pencil inscription on the back of the certificate says "Near the Utah." There were two Utah Mines on the Comstock: one on the north end of Virginia City and one in American Flat. The note is likely referring to the latter. Additional information included.
