Listed in the 1864 Collins directory, location Silver Star District, with A.C. Knox as secretary and office at 13 Taylor's Building in Virginia City. Yates is listed as the secretary for the Harrison Mining Company. The Silver Star District was1 1/4 miles east of Virginia City and Gold Hill and lies parallel to the Comstock Lode. It was later renamed the Brunswick District after the Brunswick Lode and then renamed again as the Comstock District. A pencil inscription on the back of the certificate says "Near the Utah." There were two Utah Mines on the Comstock: one on the north end of Virginia City and one in American Flat. The note is likely referring to the latter.
