Carlisle & Co., Reno, Nevada, 1920. 286 pp. Handwritten notes on inside back pages. 2) "Silver Kings, The Life and Times of Mackay, Fair, Flood, and O'Brien, Lords of the Nevada Comstock Lode" by Oscar Lewis. Published by alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1947. 286 pp. Illustrated, good condition. 3) "The City of Trembling Leaves" by Walter Van Tilburg Clark. Published by Random House, New York, first printing, 1945. With a note from the publisher: "This is a wartime book. the text is complete but every effort has been made to comply with the government's request to conserve essential materials." The City of trembling Leaves was a very popular book; ...to such tree worshipers, and Tim Hazard is high in the cult, the trees of Reno have regional meanings within their one meaning, like the themes and transitions of a one-movement symphony." 690 pp. 4) "Men to Match My Mountains, The Opening of the Far west, 1840-1900" by Irving Stone. Published by University of Nevada Press, Reno, Las Vegas, London, 1992. 190 pp. "It is extreme paradox itself that finally describes the state best, a land "fiery hot and deadly weary" but with "greener fields ahead and a host of pretty butterflies."
