Gilbert Palache worked as a bookkeeper and clerk for Wells Fargo & Co., was treasurer for the Presidio & Ferries Street Railway Co., and president of the California Northwestern Railway Company. Halsey was a miner in Tuolumne County during the Gold Rush and later served as an attorney and judge in Stanislaus County.
