Lot of 7 items. 1) Book – Mexico’s Treasure -House (Guanajuato) – The Illustrated and Descriptive Account of their Mines and their operations by Percy F. Martin, publisher: Cheltenham, New York 1906. pp. 259; Original hardbound edition with 6 folding panoramic plates, 2 foldout maps, diagrams, and over 40 glossy photographic plates. The first silver discoveries in the area were developed by the Spaniards in April of 1558 and mining has continued for over 450 years at this mother lode site adjacent to the town Guanajuato which was established in 1741 with a population of some 80,000 even then. One of the mines, La Valenciana, accounted for two-thirds of the world’s silver production at the height of its production. All the mines of Guanajuato produced an estimated 1 to 1.2 billion oz silver and 5 to 6 million oz gold! 2) 1907 Prospectus for the company.16 pp. incl 8 photos & one cross sectional view of the workings of the San Cayetano Mine, one of the principal mines for the company. Includes the same panorama of Guanajuato as the book. The company properties were located on a secondary vein system in the Santa Rosa Mining District about 5 miles east of the Veta Madre and were first worked in 1867. The bulk of the report describes the existing workings and outlines future development. Some water staining. 3) Stock certificate issued for 100 shares. Stamp and punch cancelled.
