Collection of vintage statuettes (4) of Guanyin, also known as Kuan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. Includes (2) hand-carved wooden: Light golden stain, 15"T, 4x4.5"W, with 4.5"diameter base, two cracks on base front (doesn't affect integrity); medium brown stain, 10.5"T, 4.75x4"W, with 5x4" base, 3" and 1.5" cracks on rear (doesn't affect integrity), small surface crack on shoulder and front of base. Also included is a resin statuette, matching light golden stain to 15" statuette, 7.5"T, 3x2.5"W, with 3.5x3" base, no imperfections; and a bronze statuette, 6.5"T, 3.5x3.5"W, with 3.5" diameter base, several areas with blue oxidation; and a carved dark stained wooden stand, 6"T, 5x5" flat surface at top, 4.5x4.5" base. Guanyin was one of the most important and beloved deities in Buddhism. The infinitely compassionate Avalokite& #347;vara (Chinese: Guanyin), name translates to “The Lord who looks down (compassionately at the suffering beings).” In Thailand she is revered by Buddhists as the Bodhisattva of Compassion, known as Phra Mae Kuan Im.
