This gun engraving is of a bolt action rifle floor-plate with a lioness as the center. FEGA engraver Jim Blair used bulini and banknote style to complete this piece; signed at the bottom edge. The lioness is a popular subject among African game animals. The lioness is known to attack humans by a coordinated ambush from front and flank before you realize that you are the target. (As told by Tweed Roosevelt great grandson of Theodore). Please see photo for details.
