HK 26, Centennial Expo, 1876. Holed at top for suspension. Uncirculated, but few spots at bottom obverse, and reverse suffers from corrosion in places removing the plating (probably a net-AU). Students of So-Called Dollars know that these pieces made specifically for hanging from a hanger as a breast badge were not supposed to be part of the HK collecting group. There was much descension among the original members of the Hibler-Kappan team, which included Bill Weber. Weber was adamant that a true So-Called Dollar must be the coin/medal that was produced and sold as a coin, and not include pieces that were used on badges, even if they were the very same medals. Today, collectors are far less fussy and even the grading services include the "hangers". This is a relatively common piece and may be the most prolifically distributed piece at the Expo.
