Lot of 2 different. Henry Teller was a prominent Colorado businessman and lawyer. He also served as a US Senator from 1876-1882 and 1885-1909, and as Secretary of the Interior between 1882 and 1885. 1) Very rare billhead for the Teller House, WH Bush Proprietor, Central City, May 1874. Billed to Jas. London for 1 week stay. 7.5 x 5.25" The Teller House was built in 1872 by Henry Teller and is still standing in Central City. Once billed as "the finest hotel west of the Mississippi," this hotel was the site of the famous 1873 visit from President US Grant where $20,000 worth of silver bars were laid from the Caribou Mine on the front sidewalk of the Teller House for the President to walk on. But Grant did not want to appear to be favoring or dismissing the silver by walking on it, so he used a different entrance. 2) Letterhead from the Law Office of HM& W Teller, Central City, C.T., Oct. 12, 1874. Message from Willard Teller to J. Pierson. Discusses ownership of the Moore Lode. We found references to the Chas. H. Moore Lode above Georgetown.
