Miller Huggins was a major league second baseman with the Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals. After his playing days, he became a manager and lead the Reds from 1913-1917, before becoming the skipper of the mighty New York Yankees from 1918-1929. he lead the Yankees to World Series Championships in 1923, 1927 & 1928. He had several run-ins with his best player, Babe Ruth, who was not one to be disciplined. As a consequence, Huggins suspended and fined Ruth $5,000. It was during his tenure as manager that Huggins replaced first basemen Wally Pipp with a young Lou Gehrig._x005F_x000D__x000D_
