This is a half-stock Kentucky rifle of Ohio origin. The barrel is 36 ¾ in. long by 1 1/8 in. across the flats. .44 cal. The front sight has been dovetailed but missing and the rear sight is a replacement. The lock is a back-action with no markings to the maker. The barrel also does not have any maker makings. The stock is walnut, where a crude replacement butt-plate has been added to fit. A ramrod has been crudely attached at the muzzle to fit the stock. The trigger guard is a cast iron arrangement that is beautifully detailed to fit this gun. No attempt has been made to fire this old gun. circa 1860-1880's.
