California gold rush lettersheet in the form of a 4pp, blue wove paper introductory first page, testimonials and list of prices on the second page, followed by a manuscript letter on page three. page 4 blank. No publisher noted. If this had an illustration, it would have been listed in Baird. In the letter here, Hallidie is writing to merchants and bankers Hardy & Kennedy in Forest Hill near Auburn, August 24, 1859. Hallidie is telling Hardy & Kennedy that their company is fulfilling their order as quickly as possible, with delivery due shortly. Hallidie was the most important manufacturer of wire rope (cable), used for everything imaginable in mining - from large scale placer mining to secure large crane devices for boulder removal to cable for underground mine hoists and tramways. Very rare, possibly unique. [ San Francisco California
