Lot of 3 different. 1) First National Bank of Nevada Agency, Hamilton, 1869. This check was payable in gold, unusual in Nevada at the time. Founded in 1868, Hamilton was estimated to have a population of 12,000 just a year later. The boom was short-lived and in the 1870 census the population was down to 3,915. After a disastrous fire three years later, most of the town was never rebuilt and the population declined to about 500. This bank was also short-lived and likely didn't last more than two years. Rare. 2) Same bank. An unused 18__ draft featuring the Nevada State Seal with a train and a ship signifying commerce. 3) Agency of the Bank of California, Treasure City, 1871. Bank check with both US and Nevada adhesive revenue stamps. First known as Tesora, the boom town on the other side of Treasure Hill was incorporated as Treasure City in 1869. The new town soon had a population of some 7,000 and the Bank of California was there to serve the residents. However, within a year the population had quickly declined to about 500. The town was disincorporated by the Nevada Legislature in 1879, but the local Bank of California had closed its doors long before then. Rare. When the "Rush to White Pine" began in 1868, the First National Bank of Nevada in San Francisco decided to capitalize on the new boom town. Soon an agency bank appeared in Hamilton in White Pine County, followed by an agency of the Bank of California in neighboring Treasure City.
