Boston. 1863. 32pp. The company formed in 1863 when it purchased existing lead mining properties in North Hampton for $450,000 from Thomas E. Hastings. This company produced mainly lead but also copper and coal during the Civil War. After the war ended, the company failed to make a profit and closed by 1865. Includes a large fold-out map of the Hampton Lead Mine. Lead was discovered in the are in the late 1670s by Robert Lyman, and mining occurred till the 1690s, then again in 1809 till the late 1820s, and finally from the 1850s to 1865.
