Property consisted of 936 acres adjoining the Quincy Mine on the southwest. The original Hancock mine was set aside in 1859 by the Quincy MC. That mine operated in the 1860s and closed in 1885. Hancock is located in Houghton County, Michigan, on Copper Island, which is part of the Keweenaw Peninsula, on the Keweenaw Waterway directly opposite Houghton, Michigan.
