According to the britishmuseum.org, this c.1737 cartoon was a satire on Italian opera singers and their female admirers, a copy in reverse of BM Satires 1694. Senesino (1686-1758) was a celebrated Italian contralto castrato, particularly remembered today for his long collaboration with the composer George Frideric Handel. 15 x 9.5" Rough and torn edges, folds, soiling.
