Map shows the Midas claim and the shaft of the Esperanza mine adjacent. The two mines were located near Knob in Harrison Gulch. Small inset map affixed at the bottom showing more detail also shows the Victor and Connor claims. The Midas mine was the largest gold producer in Shasta County, California discovered in 1893. The mine closed in 1904 due to labor troubles. The ore was high grade averaging more than one ounce per ton. The map measures 18" x 9".The Esperanza mine was operated by A.J.
