A framed collection of ephemera related to the hanging of James E. Kingsley, the last man to be executed by gallows in the state of Oregon. He was sentenced to death after being convicted of murdering a police officer and executed on October 30th, 1931. The collection contains an official invitation to Kingsley's hanging from the Oregon State Penitentiary, issued to Mr. Frank L. Waller; also included is Kingsley's mugshot, two lists of signatures (presumably of those present at the execution, as the date of the execution is recorded on the list), and a short writeup on his death and the history of executions in Oregon. The invitation is signed by the warden of the Oregon State Penitentiary. All items are in excellent condition and are framed with UV protective glass.
