"Indians under Estanislao take to river and escape pursuers under General Vallejo." 18" x 47". Estanislao was a leader of the Lakisamni tribe of the Yokut people of northern California . He was notorious for leading bands of armed Native Americans in revolt against the Mexican government and Mission establishments.
