This is an exquisite replica marketed by Colt and produced by Pedersoli Firearms Co in 1999. The Harpers Ferry Model 1805 was the first pistol requested by the new American Government and it’s purpose was to arm the Navy. The original order was for 4096 pistols over a span of 1806-1808. The pistol was named after one of the most picturesque villages in Virginia,where the national armory and arsenal were built. It was destroyed during the Civil War. The wooden stock is made of select walnut.Standard lock markings ahead of the hammer include a spread eagle and shield over “US”It is marked vertically at the rear; “HARPERS/FERRY”, over a date of manufacture. Marked on the barrel ,at the breech are serial numbers eaglehead cartouche and “P” proof Inspectors markings on the left side of the stock are near the sideplate. The barrel is polished and the lockplate is case hardened.the original piatol was .54 caliber with a smooth bore ,10 1/16” round barrel. Total length is 16” and weight is 2.42 lbs These pistols were issued in pairs with the same serial number. Excellent as new with display board and narrative .
