This Harper's Ferry .69 cal. musket is a type 111 model with bright finish from the factory. This armory location was selected by George Washington in present day West Virginia. It is a model 1816 flintlock made in 1831. That year was the transition year for this model. The finish on this gun, a first with interchangeable parts, is superior for a fledgling county. The lock has the correct brass waterproof flashpan. The frizzen spring is robust as is the main spring on the hammer. This firearm is spectacular for 200 years old. There is the "V" over "P" over the palmetto tree. There is also a barrel mark "B.MCo" at the breach, meaning unknown. The stock appears to have original finish with a an "H" figure on the stock thought to be a mark of the original armsman. The is also a proofing mark "2" on the side-plate, forward trigger guard, and barrel bands. The buttplate has the familiar US on the heel. The bottom of the stock looks water marked. In shooting condition after 200 years with a bright bore. And the leather sling is a late addition. This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm its mechanical integrity. Nor should this gun be fired without the examination by a qualified gunsmith. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. No sales to New York, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. This is an antique, non FFL firearm. Please see photo for details.
