In March, 1971, Harrahís partnered with a Japanese firm to host an antique car festival, the likes of which the world had never seen. With thirty of Harrahís most important cars worth an estimated $1 million at the time, the exhibit created a festival of car lovers that has never been equaled. It was estimated in the Press at the time that over one million people visited the multi-day event. Harrah himself commented: ìClassic cars are the epitome of todayís gigantic automobile industry ñ and even more, they are valuable evidence of an era when man and machine beautifully harmonized.î (Harrah, 3/15/1971)

20î x 25î x 3î thick scrapbook of this world-class antique automobile event in Japan in March, 1971. This record of the event was made specifically by and for Harrahís, possibly specifically for Bill Harrah himself. For this event nearly fifty years ago, Harrahís sent 30 key automobiles out of its collection to Japan, including the world-famous 1931 Bugatti Royale, the clear star of the collection and unquestionable one of the most artistically beautiful automobiles ever made. Fancy pamphlets, broadsides and promotional materials were made, each of which is within this archive. A press clipping service was used both in the USA and Japan, and those clippings are present. The group also includes dozens of 8 x 10 and 11 x 14î black & white quality photographs of the event, and of the auto moving/packing process. Approximately 100 pages in this large format folio are used (front and back of 50 +/- pages). This archive is unique, deserving of any automobile collection or entity.
