Brown border, Adhesive RN stamp and raised company seal. Printed: GOES 533. Assigned. Central Pennsylvania Traction Co. reorganized and Harrisburg Railways came into being on Jan. 15, 1913. Continued decline in ridership that began in 1924 and more automobiles being used led to decline of trolley service in the Harrisburg area. In 1933 3 lines were converted to buses. In 1937 the company name became Harrisburg Railways and remained in use until 1973. Ridership continued to decline and more buses were added to the line and more trolley routes terminated. Last Harrisburg Railways Trolley was operated on July 16, 1939 on the Middletown line 74 years after the introduction of horse-drawn trolley service and 66 years after the introduction of electric powered trolley service in Harrisburg.
