Group of photographs taken by E. A. Hegg, a Swedish born photographer (1867-1947) who worked the Alaska-Klondike gold rush 1897-1901, and in the process became one of the most famous photographers of the period. From his studio in Skagway, he ventured all over the Alaska-Klondike regions, specializing in Dawson, Skagway, Bennett, and scenic views associated with the railroad. This group contains two main parts: a published group with titles written along the bottom, and another of family origin, which, because of the association here, and the presence of a photographer's camera on a tripod in two photos leads us to postulate that this is Hegg's family and some of his personal snapshots. Most of the photos are about 5 x 7". Included in the published group are one of his famous Chilcot pass photos lined with hundreds of miners. There are six views of the White-Pass Yukon route railroad, including the White Pass station; about 5 of native American scenes such as totem poles; six views of ships and skegs; about nine family snap shots; and two unidentified flood scenes, probably along the white Pass route.
