This is the stock from a second Henry Deringer pocket pistol found in the Easton Family trunk. The name ìDeringerî became synonymous with all small single shot pistols in the 19th century. However, this is the same model that John Wilkes Booth used to assassinate President Lincoln. The checkering of the stock and inletting indicates that this IS a Henry Deringer of Philadelphia, Penn. The stock is complete without any ferrous materials. The trigger guard is intact with the rear portion of the bow free to inlet into the wood stock; this is unique. The stock was inlet for a shield at the wrist, an escutcheon for the lock plate screw, a stock inlay opposite the lock, the buttcap inlay, and the two inlays to hold the wedge. The inletting is precision. The trigger guard in intact but also unique; the lug on top was to hold the bolt from the barrel tang and also hold the trigger guard. Those measurements for mounting had to be perfect. 5.75 in. overall length.
