Rare certificate! Amador County. Cert. No. 116, issued for one share to Ashton on April 20th, 1857. Signed by Lorenzo Hamilton (president) and Samuel Davis (secretary). Not cancelled. Printed on delicate blue paper with no vignette. Reverse has notations for transfers of shares. The city of Herbertville began in 1851 and was named after reverend Lemuel Herbert, who was an owner of Spring Hill Mine. It is now a ghost town. Measures 5.25" x 8." Folds and small stains.
