Two pieces of high-grade antimony ore from the Antimony King Mine in the Bernice District, Churchill County, Nevada, approx 65 x 43 x 35 mm and 30 x 30 x 15 mm. Massive quartz with dark, silvery-grey mineralization, probably stibnite (antimony sulfide) which is the predominant antimony-bearing mineral in the district along with silver, gold, and arsenic. Mining in the district began in the 1880s, and antimony was being recovered in small amounts in the early 1900s, during both World Wars, and up into the 1960s. Today the ruins of the town and mine are still visible, but access is limited to brave 4WD explorers.
