Small sample of high-grade gold ore, approx 1.75 x 1 x 1 inches, weighs about 39.2 grams. Visible gold on the surface with some malachite staining on the white quartz matrix. The Johnnie Mine is located in southern Nye County about 15 miles north of Pahrump. It operated briefly in the early 1900s, producing around 80,000 to 90,000 troy ounces of gold. There is a 1976 thesis paper by Stanley Ivosevic with great detail about this mining district. Since 2014, ownership of the Johnnie Mine site, along with the nearby April Fool, Teddys, and Teddys Terror mine sites was transferred to the Pahrump Valley Museum and Historical Society.
