High-grade silver-gold ore specimen from the Montana Tonopah Mine, Nye County, Nevada, approx 90 x 55 x 40 mm. Massive quartz permeated by dark, silver-grey mineralization, probably argentite, with surface crystals of tarnished chalcopyrite and druzy quartz. Original collector identified polybasite -- a black monoclinic mineral containing silver, antimony, copper, arsenic, and sulfur -- as the black crystalline material on the surface. This is a very dense and attractive specimen from this famous mining district.
