High-grade silver ore from the Sunshine Mine near Kellogg, Idaho, approx 135 x 75 x 50 mm. Specimen is metamorphosed quartzite with encrustations of silvery-grey mineralization identified by the collector as pyrargyrite -- a silver-antimony-sulfide, sometimes called ruby silver when it appears reddish in color. The original collector identified this piece as coming from the D-Vein at the 3700-foot level of the Sunshine Mine. This is a nice-size specimen from this famous silver mining district that will be good for display on a desk or shelf.
