High-grade silver ore slab from the homestake Mine in Creede, Colorado, approx 85 x 50 x 6 mm. Very dense with silvery-grey mineralization in white quartz. The original collector did not note the specific mine, but Homestake produced 25 million ounces of silver from the Bulldog underground mine before it closed in 1985 due to depressed metal prices. Rio Grande Silver, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hecla, is now re-assessing the Bullfrog underground workings for future development.
